You Are What You Eat…
We often get asked what is in our dog and cat food. As a general rule the food we carry is made with human grade ingredients from U.S. source and safe processing methods. Most are without corn or wheat, two items often used to boost the protein level if there is not a high enough amount of real meat in the food to meet an adequate level. When evaluating food for your pet look at the first several ingredients, they should be quality ingredients.

You are what you eat!
Another question we are often asked is around wet cat food protein levels. This is generally in relationship to diabetic cats. When computing actual protein levels in wet food you need to account for the moisture. The Calculation is:
% protein divided by percent of dry mater times 100
So if the label reads 80% moisture the dry mater equals 20%. If the protein is listed at 10% the actual level of what they are eating is:
10÷20*100=50% protein
When it comes to cat heath consider adding wet food to their diet. This will help with urinary health as cats that only eat dry food often do not drink enough water which can result in urinary inflammation. For more thoughts on dry and wet cat food you can review this article on Veterinary partners
Elbow Room…
Once again technology has touched our lives, this time for the good. The Realtor’s had a computer lab in a room behind our store. They are now using wireless laptops. Come in and see how we were able to make this space into food area extraordinaire. Also, take a peek at new toys and treats.
